Run water in the offending sink or tub until it becomes hot. Then pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain. Follow immediately with 1 cup of white vinegar. Let this sit for about 5 minutes (it will naturally foam up/bubble). Then turn the hot water back on and let run for a minute.
This should clear out most clogs. If it's really tough, try to repeat. If your clog is really compacted hair, your best bet will probably be to use a mini-snake. I have used the FlexiSnake which works great and you can also buy a similar product at Walgreens.

Awesome idea. I'm going to remember this as I don't like to use those harsh cleaners either.
ReplyDeleteI use this solution all the time. I love how it fizzles when you add the vinegar! It works. Actually, I am off the clean the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteMy teenage daughter clogs the sink with her hair care products. I'm going to show her this and have her do it regularly. Thanks!
